You can come to have blood and urine samples taken without an appointment from Monday to Thursday between 7am and 5:30pm and on Friday between 7am and 3pm. Culture swabs are taken daily from 7am – 3pm; stool samples are taken from Monday to Thursday from 7am – 5:30pm and on Friday until 12 noon. You can find the times for special examinations here.

Generally, you do not need to make an appointment with us. Please note that special examinations e.g. culture swabs, glucose tolerance or breath tests can only be done at certain times (Times for special examinations).
Some special examinations require you to comply with a certain diet or avoid eating certain foods beforehand. The IHR LABOR 1100 team is available to answer any questions which you might have.

Please come to blood sample collection fasting if you are having your blood sugar, cholesterol, triglycerides, homocysteine, crosslaps or aldosterone levels tested. Fasting means that your last meal must have been taken at least ten hours before sample collection. You are allowed to drink water.

In principle, you should only take tablets after blood samples have been collected (e.g. blood-thinning medicines such as Marcoumar etc.).
If medications have to be taken urgently and this cannot be delayed, of course you may take them with a sip of water.

PLEASE NOTE:
If the test is to determine the concentration of a certain medication, please do not take that medication until after the blood sample has been collected.
If the test is to determine your body’s own hormone production, please stop taking any tablets containing that hormone 10 days before the test, after obtaining the advice of your doctor (e.g. thyroid hormone replacement therapy, the pill etc.) This also applies to hormone plasters!

Results of standard tests are generally available within 24 hours of your visit. You can either collect them from us or we can send them to you by post (postage fees apply). If you have selected the digital download option, you will receive email notification that your results are available for download.

Special examinations can also take longer; reception staff will provide you with further information.

The most modern testing procedures help to ensure rapid compilation of results, but special examinations can be tricky and require more time. If subsequent testing is necessary or samples have to be sent to partner- or specialist laboratories for further investigations, it can take a little longer to compile results.

Usually, this is done by your regular doctor (or the doctor who referred you). Our specialist doctors are also pleased to provide you with further information. 

We will keep your samples for a week under appropriate conditions. During this time, the doctor who referred you can request further tests to be done, as long as this does not concern any parameters where time is of the essence.

The range of tests covers more than 1000 parameters in various fields. This ranges from the standards tests like blood sugar or cholesterol to special tests or microbiological evaluations. You can find further information on our services here.

Most analyses are paid for by the Austrian sickness insurance funds and are settled directly between IHR LABOR 1100 and the relevant sickness insurance fund. However, the funds do not cover the costs of some of the special analyses and services. Our expert staff are happy to inform you about any costs before taking the blood sample so that you can decide whether you want to have the tests done which you must pay for.

Usually, the doctor who is treating you will issue the necessary referral slip. Please bring this slip and your e-card along to the test. 

Yes, of course. If you come as a private patient, we will inform you of the costs you will incur before we do the test. With your agreement, we will issue you with an invoice which must be paid immediately – either in cash or with a debit- or credit card. You may be able to submit the invoice to your private insurer.

If your doctor has referred you to us, your results will be sent to him/her by post or by secure online transmission.
